Joy for Joseph's with two-goal win

New Ross Town 0 St. Joseph's 2: A blustery Bunclody hosted the Boland Carpets Cup final between St. Joseph's and New Ross Town but, despite the windy conditions, both sides produced an excellent game of football.

St. Joseph's played with the wind in the first-half but despite loads of possession, they were finding it difficult to break down a well-marshalled New Ross defence. However, the breakthrough eventually happened on 28 minutes when Aine Roche scored to put Joey's ahead, and it was a lead they held until the break.

While New Ross did push forward in the second-half they found the St. Joseph's defence impenetrable with Georgia Warren in the goal being very sharp. The turning point came when player of the match Lisa Johnston cleared a goalbound shot off the line and five minutes later Pamela Walsh scored to clinch the victory.

League committee member Tom 'Flash' Dunne presented the cup to the winning captain to start off a night of celebration.
