Sheriff active with Saracens
A SEASON of great breakthroughs for former Gorey Minis and Youth players continued when Eoin Sheriff made the Saracens match day squad for their Heineken Cup quarter-final victory against Ulster at Ravenhill Stadium.
Eoin played from a young age in Gorey R.F.C., minis upwards, until his move to Blackrock College for his final year of secondary school. He has represented Ireland through various age grades, has nine caps for the Ireland Under-20s and played at the 2008 Junior World championship.
He made his league debut for Saracens in January, 2012, and has since appeared 16 times for the current Premiership leaders.
To be in the Heineken Cup quarter-final squad (wearing No. 19) was a massive breakthrough for him in a weekend that saw what was regarded as being the best quarter-final pairings in the history of the competition.
This great news follows on from the successes earlier this year for Robin Copeland, Stephen Gardiner and Willie Earle. All in Gorey R.F.C. wish Eoin and all the lads the best of luck in their future rugby careers. We hope to see more of our current Minis, Youth and ladies' players making similar headlines in the years ahead.
And with Leinster now out of contention for the title, there will be high hopes around Wexford that Eoin can bring home a coveted Heineken Cup medal to the north of the county.
