THE 147 Club in Wexford will host the second Celtic Link Ferries open tournament on Sunday, November 18.

There will be a number of Irish internationals, national and local players in action and spectators are very welcome, with no charge.

This will be the last tournament at which players competing in the World Amateur championships in Bulgaria will have a chance to sharpen their skills. Players interested in competing, please contact the 147 Club (€30 entry, €20 for locals).

All matches will be the best of seven frames. The closing date is Friday, November 16.

HORSESHOES

For the second Sunday in a row the turkey tournament had to be called off due to the poor weather. On Sunday next it will be held in McCrea's of Carnew, weather permitting (hopefully!).

The end of season gala will be held in O'Loughlin's of Ferns on Saturday next, November 10, from 9 p.m. onwards. Tickets can be bought from clubs for €5 each.

The person of the year award will be given out at this event, and finger food will be served.

TRIATHLON

A Wexford town man was included on the list of winners for the season when Triathlon Ireland's annual awards dinner took place in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday last.

Neal O'Grady enjoyed first place finishes in the men's 35 to 39 category on two occasions during the year at events in Valentia Island and Athlone respectively.

Enniskillen's Gavin Noble, who produced a thrilling performance at the Olympic Games, picked up the Vodafone Athlete of the Year award.
