WEXFORD JUVENILES

The President's prize weekend came to a fitting conclusion when the Pipsqueaks re-appeared for a longest drive competition. Bronagh Reilly won the girls' event with a stroke that ended well up the fairway. There was a tie for second place as the young Harrington twins, Abby and Georgia, could not be separated. President Pat Geoghegan displayed Solomon's wisdom and gave both girls equal billing.

The boys' event was highly-competitive, with Luke Furlong setting the early pace. He was overtaken by Aaron Doyle and Conall Murphy before a spectacular stroke by Eoin Murphy with his final shot claimed the prize.

The singles events took second place last week with the adult/Juvenile fourball dominating the fairways. A group of Wexford players travelled to Enniscorthy for the open singles. Brad Cohen won the gross prize in a closely-fought event. Another group will travel to Waterford this week for a similar competition.

The fundraising scramble for Tiernan Fogarty attracted a large entry with several teams from the Juvenile section. The scores were very respectable.

Captain Paul Lauhoff is sponsoring the final singles event before the schools re-open. This will take place on Thursday, August 22, and there will a wide selection of prizes.
