Buggy makes good start to the league
WEEK TWO of the Wexford Winter Handball League saw the Premier Division get into full flow and Gavin Buggy, Michael Ducksy Walsh and Peter Funchion sit top of the table after all three recorded clean 2-0 wins in their opening games.
Michael Ducksy Walsh (Talbot's Inch) defeated Pat O'Donnell from Arklow, Peter Funchion (Kells) was too good for Paul Lambert (St Joseph's), and Gavin Buggy (St Mary's) beat John Ryan from Garryhill in the opening round.
Peter Hughes from Ballyhogue had a fruitful week in Division 1 as he had two wins beating Malachy Whelan (Castlebridge) and Darren O'Toole (Coolgraney) both games scoring 2-0 to the man in blue and white.
Malachy Whelan did grab a win of his own in this division with a 2-1 win over John Ryan from Garryhill, while there was also a win in the division for Christy Doyle (Coolboy) as he defeated Micky Berry (Barntown) 2-1.
There were two exciting games in Division 2 during the past week with Michael Busher from Bridgetown beating Eugene Kelly Castlebridge 2-0, while Brendan Burke from Kells grabbed a 2-0 win over Ollie Ryan from Garryhill.
Division 3 looks like being a very competitive division with Tony Breen pushing to the top of the division after his second win of the group over Tomas Lennon from Monavea.
Pechelli English (Davidstown) is hot in pursuit after a comfortable 2-0 win over Noel Holohan (Templeudigan). Johnny Brennan (Mothel) grabbed a 2-1 win over Ned Kealy from (Arklow), while also in Division 3 James Bergin (St Martin's) grabbed an impressive 2-0 win over James Gregan from Coolboy.
David Redmond (Templeudigan) has a perfect record in division four after he defeated Paul Dowling from Mothel on a 2-0 score line. Jim Berry (Barntown) beat Tom Connors from the same club 2-0 in his second game of the group.
Jim Doyle also from Barntown was a two game to one winner over John Roche from Castlebridge. Also winners in Division 4 were Sean Ryan from Garryhill who beat Paul Dowling from Mothel two zero, and Diarmuid Burke was also a 2-0 winner in his game against Sean Ryan.
