What's on for Heritage Week

SEVERAL historic building and gardens in Wexford are hosting events during Heritage Week including:

* Historic House Tours of Newtownbarry House, Gardens and Gallery in Bunclody are being held from August 23 to 31 from midday to 6 p.m. There will be three historical house tours and garden tours per day, provided by an experienced guide. * Archeological research (remote sensing) at Kilmokea Gardens on August 23 from 12 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Join the Coillte Heritage group, who are currently conducting a geophysical study within the North West quadrant of the Kilmokea enclosure, under the direction of Kevin Barton. * A talk on the produce from the Colclough Garden from the 1700s to the present day, will be held at Tintern Abbey Visitor Centre from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m on August 23. David Bowden, head gardener in the Colclough Garden, will deliver the talk. For more information contact 056 7724623

* Free guided tour of Tintern Abbey, the beautiful Cistercian Monastery and later residence of the Colclough family, on August 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information contact 056 7724623

* Free Guided Tour of the 15th-century tower house of Ballyhack Castle built by the Knights Hospitallers. This event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m from August 23 to 31. For more information contact 051 389468
