Thunderous applause at Ballyduff
There was a full house for the first summer festival held at the Ár mBreacha House of Storytelling, Raheen, Ballyduff, Camolin.
Thunder, torrential rain, and dry spells provided for much movement in and out on the day, but conditions were fine for the outdoor performance of 'A Clash of Wills' which was written by local woman Phil Carton, and performed by 12 of the Ár mBreacha players. 'The audience loved the play,' said a delighted Phil. 'They loved the story.'
The crowd then packed into the house for tea and refreshments beside the fire, and they settled in for an afternoon of stories, music and dancing. The Rock set dancers also gave an entertaining performance.
'It was a lovely afternoon,' said Phil. 'People were absolutely thrilled. Fr Jim Finn said it was a dream come true. It's what he wanted when he founded the house of stories 25 years ago.' Thanks went to all who contributed including the musicians, storytellers, dancers, those who did the teas, and fear an tí Paddy Burnell
