A total of 26 teams took part in the Tony Doran GAA quiz in Buffers Alley recently.

The questions were varied to suit all tastes but it took a lot of brain teasing to come up with the correct answers in some instances.

The winning team was a regular attendee at the quiz, often knocking on the door for first place. The quartet from Wexford town who scooped the top prize were: Joe Cummins, Trevor Doocey, Louis Rafter and Tom Lynch.

Second place went to Buffer's Alley clubman, Darragh Butler who brought his friends down from Dublin for the night. He was accompanied by Brendan Hobbs and Colm Breen from the Tara Rocks club and Michael Verney from Birr, who is better known for his journalistic skills with the Irish Independent.

The winners of the spot prizes were Marie Butler, Eric Bradley, Bob Butler and Brendan Kehoe from Buffers Alley/Adamstown) while second prize went to Paddy Walsh, John Fenlon, Seamus Sweeney and Michael Sweeney of Monageer-Boolavogue.

The third spot prize went to Brendan Hobbs, Michael Verney, Colm Breen and Darragh Butler of Tara Rocks & Buffers Alley while the fourth went to Bobby Jackman, Trevor Jackman, Gabriel Hawe and Joe O'Shea of Windgap, Kilkennny.

Raffle winners were Ben Martin, Mel Doyle, Donal Hayden, Kevin Hall, Matty Foley, Pat Burke, John Redmond and Ger Kinsella.

Thanks were extended to everyone who had helped out on the night and who donated prizes.
