Young man loses life in car crash

NURSING staff on their way home from Wexford General Hospital tried to save the life of a dying man when they came upon a car crash on the Newtown Road in Wexford town early on Sunday.
However, despite their best efforts, they were unable to save the life of 30-year-old Paul Kelly, from Ballyhine, Barntown.
Paul was alone in the VW Bora when it struck the wall of the water treatment plant opposite the former J.J.Byrne presmises at around 5 a.m. on Sunday.
The Newtown Road was closed for several hours to allow a forensic examination to be carried out.
Gardai are now appealing for witnesses to the single-vehicle collision. 'We would appeal to anyone who can assist us in our investgations to come forward,' said a Garda spokesman.
