Wexford's Texaco art entries up for judging

THE JUDGING of entries in this year's 60th Texaco Children's Art Competition has commenced, with County Wexford schools well represented.
Going for judging are a work entitled 'Morning Reflections' by 15-year-old Katie May Byrne, a pupil at Gorey Community School; 'Yum Yum' by 10-year-old Caoimhe Crean, a pupil at Ballycanew National School; 'Pink Lillies' by 13-year-old Yaiza McGuirk, a pupil at Creagh College in Gorey; 'The magic in my head' by 16-year-old Klaudia Rapala, a pupil at St. Mary's Secondary School, New Ross; a work entitled 'Ms Nibbles' by seven-year-old Tara Kenny, a pupil at Scoil Mhuire, New Ross; 'My Daddy' by 15-year-old Polly Maher, a pupil at Colaiste Bride Secondary School, Enniscorthy; 'The Rainbow' by six-year-old Niamh Ryan, a pupil at Ballyduff National School, near Camolin; and 'Crazy Clown' by five-year-old Pearl Redmond, a pupil at St. Annes National School, Rathangan.
Winners will be announced in mid-April after which the top 21 prizewinning entries will be placed on exhibition at the Hugh Lane Gallery on Dublin's Parnell Square where they will be seen alongside works by such renowned figures as Francis Bacon, William Orpen, Jack B. Yeats and Louis le Brocquy.
