Volunteers clean up the countryside
Communities in North Wexford that cleaned up 2km stretches of local roads were recently honoured for their efforts at the North Wexford 2K Clean awards at Gorey Civic Square.
After inspections, gold, silver and bronze awards were given out. All were congratulated on their efforts by the Gorey Municipal District committee. Those who showcased an existing feature on their 2K stretch entered a competition titled 'The little things that matter.' There was also a photographic competition.
The results given to Tidy Towns and development groups were as follows:
Gold: Askinamoe; Balamon; Ballycanew; Ballyduff; Ballyfad; Ballymoney; Boolavogue; Camolin; Castletown; Curraduff Hill; Ferns; The Gap; Gorey; The Harrow; Hollyfort; Kilanerin (Ballyfad); Kilanerin (Barracurragh); Kilanerin (Clonroe-Ballythomas); Killenagh; Knockrobin-Clologue; Oulart; Rathpierce; Tombrack - Ballyroebuck; Tombrack; and the Walkers Group.
Silver: Coolgreany; Croghan View/Croghan Close; Kilanerin (Tinnock); Kilanerin (Banview); Kilanerin village to Limbrick Hill; Kilmuckridge; and Tara Hill.
Bronze: Kilanerin Ballyfad; Kilanerin (Forchester); Kilanerin (Pond Road); and Kilanerin (Limbrick-Pallas).
Framed certificates for five or more gold roads went to: Ballyduff; Camolin; Ferns; The Gap; Hollyfort; Kilanerin; and Rathpierce.
The Little Things That Matter awards went to: The Gap; Hollyfort; Ferns; Ballyduff. The photographic competition winners were: 1, Oulart; 2, Rathpierce; 3, Camolin.
