Tourist office relocation

A SUGGESTION was made at Gorey Town Council's monthly meeting last week that the Gorey Tourist Office be moved next door to the larger central unit in the Market House, to allow local craft workers display and sell their work.
Town Clerk Amanda Byrne told the Councillors that the suggestion came from Gorey Chamber. She said the Tourist Office staff could then look after the exhibition. 'It would be an effective use for the building,' she said.
Cllr. Robert Ireton agreed that the Tourist Office needs more space as it 'is a great asset for the town.' He suggested that the Tourist Office staff be sent to all the attractions in the county, so they can tell tourists about them.
Town Manager Eddie Taaffe said the move is only an outline proposal at present, and would need to be fleshed out.
