THE CORRIDORS of Gorey Shopping Centre were filled with activity recently, as the Gorey Youth Support Network held its second annual Youth Health Day.
The event was kicked off by John Lonergan, former Governor of Mountjoy Prison, who gave a talk on parenting teens, while Olympic Boxing Coach Billy Walsh later spoke about the importance of taking part in an activity, as one never knows where it will take you. He also provided an entertaining commentary on pad work by members of Gorey Boxing Club.
The focus of the day was on giving access to young people and their families to the range and wealth of information on the various aspects, issues and factors relating to their whole health, with particular focus this year on mental health.
The Youth Support Network is a collaborative network of services including the HSE, Children and Family Services; Gorey Youth Needs Group; FDYS; Gorey School Completion Programme and Gorey Community School.
