A MAN facing a sexual assault charge at a healthcare facility in the county appeared again before last Tuesday's sitting of Wexford District Court, where he was released from custody on the condition that he signs on daily at Wexford Garda Station.
The previous week the man was brought before the court on foot of a bench warrant having failed to appear in court on November 8. He was remanded in custody to appear in court last Tuesday.
Supt. Aidan Brennan told the court that the charge dates back to 2010, when the defendant was a patient at a healthcare facility. While there it is alleged the defendant groped a female student nurse's chest area, the court heard.
The defendant told the court that he is pleading not guilty. ' That is absolutely not the truth of what happened,' he said, before adding later that he has found the whole process 'very disorientating'. He said he has become absent-minded and forgets what day it is.
The case was adjourned to Gorey District Court on March 13.
