DANCE partners Hannah Colclough and Richard Power provided great value for money at Rackard's of Caim as they presented an evening of music and story.
Martin Codd not only sang a few songs but also acted as master of ceremonies for the occasion, which was part of the 'Strictly Cub Dancing' campaign being conducted by Rathnure GAA club.
There was no shortage of volunteers to sing, dance and play, while Chris Forrestal and Nick Dempsey were prevailed upon to give a couple of recitations. It was entertainment in the old style and all for a fiver on the night, part of Richard and Hannah's fundraising drive.
The pair are among eight couples which have been training under the direction of Jim O'Brien and Maudie Maher at the national school in Rathnure. The field will be reduced from eight down to three at a dance off in the Riverside Park hotel on January 26.
'I like social dancing but this is completely different,' commented Hannah Colclough who is impressed by the way that 'Strictly' has been adopted by the community. 'Rathnure has been absolutely alive with so many different events. The fundraising is fantastic and everyone is talking about it.'
