Chefs Derry Clarke and Clodagh McKenna prepare to do battle at Gorey Civic Square.

TWO CELEBRITY chefs arrived in Gorey this week to temporarily take over two local restaurants, and are inviting local diners to try out the results.

Chefs Derry Clarke and Clodagh McKenna will put their own stamp on two restaurants in Gorey for just two nights. It's all part of a Christmas special called 'Food Fight' being filmed for RTE television.

The chefs' challenge is to compete against each other to transform the restaurants into the ultimate dining experience, and they have less than two days in which to do it.

Both chefs must decide on everything from decor to a new name for their restaurant as well as advertising to get the local diners through their door.

The existing staff of both establishments will be on duty for the duration of this challenge to work with the celebrity chefs and help turn their culinary visions into reality.

The restaurants will be opening their doors for business under this very special new management today, Tuesday, December 11, and Wednesday, December 12.

Perhaps the most unusual thing about the two nights is that there are no fixed prices on the menus - diners pay what they feel the experience is worth.

The local eateries taking part are Christina's on Main Street, and The Kitchen on North Parade, with the reservation booking lines for both now open.

To book a table call: Christina's reservation line: 053 9480808; or The Kitchen's reservation line: 053 9480542. Strictly Reservation Only.

Food Fight will be aired on RTE1 on St. Stephen's Day at 6.30 p.m.
