A NORTH WEXFORD Councillor has accused the Minister for Education Mary Hanafin of selectively leaking a report on Waterford Institute of Technology's application for University status, to a national newspaper

Cllr. Declan McPartlin said that government spin' on the application attempts to confuse the issue by suggesting that all other Institutes of Technology could seek the same status.

He accused the Minister for Education Mary Hanafin of duplicity in her response to the W.I.T. application.

The South East Regional Authority's request to the Minister to publish Dr. Jim Port's Report was denied until she had selectively leaked it to the Irish Times and as a member of that body, I find her contempt of the democratic system a very worrying development,' he said.
