A LANDMARK North Wexford Pub is to go up for auction early in the New Year.
Toss Byrnes in Inch recently went into liquidation, and the property has now been put on the market, to be offered at auction on February 6 in with a guide price of €265,000.
The sale is being handled by Kearney and Co, Redmond Square, Wexford, and the auction will take place in Toss Byrnes at 3 p.m. on February 6.
Auctioneer John Kearney said the property presents a great opportunity for someone to come in with a clean slate and open it again. 'It was still trading healthily on a daily basis,' he said. 'Unfortunately it went into liquidation at the end of November due to banking difficulties. It was closed that day and you even still have unmade beds. Everything is in good condition.'
The 5,000 sq.ft. fully licensed property includes a seven room B&B as well as the bar, lounge and full restaurant. It was refurbished around four years ago. The business was run successfully for 17 years by Tony and Fiona Byrne.
John Kearney said there's already interest in the property. He pointed out that pubs in places such as Kilmore Quay have closed in the past, and later reopened and are now trading healthily. ' This is too good a pub to lie empty.'
The overall site is 2.5 acres in size, backing onto a river.
