A little bit of Tinseltown is hopefully coming to Wexford once again this April as Parallel Films' production of Colm Tóibín's 'Brooklyn' is expected to begin shooting in the sunny south east.

This is the second time in less than a year that Wexford has been used as a location for a major film, as last year film crews took over the village of Ballygarrett to shoot a film adaption of 'The Sea' by fellow Wexford author John Banville.

'Brooklyn' will star Carlow Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan and Harry Potter Star Domhnall Gleeson and Parallel are hoping to begin shooting in April in Wexford and Canada.

As of yet, the film company have said 'nothing has been confirmed' and it is not known exactly where in Wexford the film will be shot, however, once again, it will surely provide great excitement on location.

The film will be an adaption of Colm Tóibín's novel by Nick Hornby who is famous for such classics as 'Fever Pitch', 'About A Boy' and 'High Fidelity'.

Set in the 1950s, 'Brooklyn' tells the tale of a young Irish emigrant Eilis Lacey (renamed Nora in the film) who starts a new life in New York. However, following a family tragedy back in Ireland, she is forced to make a difficult choice between the two men she loves in both countries.

The project was developed by BBC Films, The Irish Film Board is also funding and Parallel films in Ireland co-producing.
