Wexford school mentoring Meitheal programme should be extended around Ireland, not scrapped, say councillors.
Ex-school principal Cllr Tony Dempsey called on the Government to provide funding to ensure the second-level school initiative is continued. He was supported by Cllr Malcolm Byrne, who said councillors must show solidarity with schools. Cllr Jim Moore said his children benefitted from participation in Meitheal. 'It's an extremely good progamme. It should be thrown out there to a wider audience,' he said.
