A TWO year driving ban and fines were imposed at Gorey District Court last week on Gillian Kenny (23) of 40 Charlotte Grove, Gorey, after she appeared in court charged with driving without insurance, a licence or an NCT and other related charges, at Toberduff, Gorey, on March 8 last.
She said she lost her licence and has now found it. Her father was the policy holder for her car, and she was a named driver, and she said she didn't know the insurance was cancelled after a problem with the direct debit payments. It was pointed out to her that her provisional licence didn't cover her if she was unaccompanied by a qualified driver.
For no insurance, Judge Haughon banned her from driving for two years and fined her €300. For non-display of a tax disc, he fined her €100, and another €100 for no licence. No NCT earned her another €100 fine, and driving on a provisional licence while unaccompanied by a qualified driver earned her another €100 fine.
