Call for trees to be pruned

COUNCILLOR Lorcan Allen has repeated his call for the trees on The Avenue to be pruned. He told last week's Gorey Town Council meeting that it was getting too late for the work to be done.

He also asked what had happened to the trees that they were promised would be planted on The Avenue. 'Ask the County Councillor beside you,' responded the Cathaoirleach, Michael D'Arcy Sr, referring to Cllr Malcolm Byrne.

'The trees are starting to bud already,' continued Cllr Allen. 'They need to be done in the Market Square too. If they are not pruned shortly, it will be gone too late. And there's a tree at the end of The Avenue that's three years dead. It will fall down soon.'

Engineer Mark Collins said that pruning on The Avenue and Main Street is due to start this week.
