THE Wexford-based online classified ads company DoneDeal has donated almost €40,000 to three charities.

Every second month, the business donates 10% of the cost of placing an ad to charity with the proceeds usually split between three worthy organisations.

A total of €39,631 was raised during the month of July – the amount was divided between Barnardos, ISPCC Childline and Bray Cancer Support Centre which received €13,213 each.

The charities are chosen by members of staff.

DoneDeal launched the philanthropic initiative in February 2010 as a way of contributing to the community.

Since then, the company has donated a total of almost €900,000 to Irish charities.

Among the Wexford organisations that have benefited are the Windmill Therapeutic Unit , Cottage Autism Network, Wexford Disability Services and Wexford Able-Disabled Club.
