GOREY'S Tom Kavanagh is preparing to run his 50th marathon this month, and at the age of 66, he says this will be his last one, and he's running it to support a very worthy cause.

Tom will run the Dublin City Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday, October 28, to raise funds for the Justice for Dave Campaign.

Nazir 'Dave' Hussain from Garden City, Gorey, was brutally murdered in Kashmir during the summer, and his family and friends are raising funds in a bid to have his killers prosecuted for his murder. The family has already paid half of the fees for the lawyer who is fighting their case, but they still have a long way to go in their fundraising efforts, not to mention covering the ancillary costs of flights, visas, and accommodation for family members.

Tom, affectionately known as 'Sharp' due to his good timekeeping, has said that his 50th marathon will be his last one, and he's hoping local people will get behind his efforts by donating to the good cause.

He has been busy training with his friend and training partner Stephen Donohoe in advance of the big day.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor Tom can do so through one of his friends who have sponsorship cards, or they may support the family directly by donating to Account 42270623 in Bank of Ireland, Gorey. Sort code: 906603. All support would be greatly appreciated.
