Tenders up for grabs!
Wexford companies were encouraged to tender for lucrative public service contracts at a training workshop in the County Hall.
The eTenders workshop for local businesses was organised by the economic development department of Wexford County Council. Council Chief Eexecutive Tom Enright said the public sector nationally buys a massive €190 billion worth of goods and services every year.
Wexford businesses could be getting a larger cut of this market, he said. Wexford local authorities alone spend €200 million on services and products each year, making them one of the largest buyers in the county. 'Even though small firms account for 99% of all companies nationally, they deliver less than half of the requirements of contracting authorities,' said Mr. Enright.
