THE ST. VINCENT de Paul in Gorey has asked that all requests for assistance be made by letter in the coming year, so it can continue to improve its service helping those in need in the local community.
James Lee, Conference President, said that a letter will allow people to better set out their request for assistance. 'The reason for this is so we can be more effective and efficient. We're not there all the time, and a letter helps people explain what type of assistance they are looking for, and then we can respond,' he said. 'All requests will be assessed and answered and may involve home visitation.'
'Please give your name, address, and contact phone number and a brief outline of the assistance needed,' he added. 'All letters should be addressed to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph's, St. Michael's Road, Gorey.'
He said there was a strong demand for assistance throughout the past year, especially in the run up to Christmas. 'Demand has gone up every year, and 2013 was no different,' he said. 'In the end, donations were on a par with last year.'
