A GROUP of transition year students in Gorey Community School got cooking recently to raise funds to pursue their new project aimed at promoting positive mental health. The students held a cake sale in order to raise funds to get them started on their Young Social Innovators ( YSI) project called 'Project Smile.'
The idea of the project is to promote awareness and positive mental health among young people and within the community at large. As part of the project, the students will get involved in a number of community projects and the money raised through the cake sale will go towards providing them with much needed funds which will enable them to undertake such activities. Gorey Community School has a great record in the YSI programme and last year's transition years won first prize for their project at national level. This year's class will be hoping they can achieve the same success.
