GAA News

Last weekend the Intermediate Hurlers had two on Saturday, taking on St. Mary's Rosslare in the All-County Hurling League and Avondale in the opening round of the Leinster League. St. Mary's proved no match for the lads who won by 1-16 to 0-8.

Four hours after the start of the All-County game, the team fielded against Avondale in Rathdrum in Co. Wicklow. This was a tough game, dominated by defensive play on both sides. Ten of the starting team had already played against St. Mary's and on a heavy pitch in drizzly conditions this proved too much for our hurlers. At the final whistle they were only three points adrift, 0-9 to 0-12 which was a good result for a second game in an afternoon, played away to a tough rugged side.

Biggest Loser

Congratulations to all who took part in the Monageer/Boolavogue GAA Biggest Loser competition and a special thanks to all the organisers and helpers who helped make the fundraiser such a success. Dominic Walsh's team were the winners with 26 points, closely followed by Tom Breen's with 24 points.

Soccer News

The U-14s had two friendlies last weekend, beating St. Joseph's away by 5-2. Yaw Aboagye got two, David Mernagh two and Nathan Byrne a thrilling fifth. Playing away to Gorey Celtic, David Mernagh, Jamie Doyle and Darryl Gray all scored to leave the final score at 3-1. Troy Duffy was the player-of-the-match. The U-10 lost by 2-3 to a very stron Moyne Rangers side. Darren Kelly got our first goal and Patrick Redmond converted a penalty.
