FIVE Gaisce Awards have been presented to trainees at the St Aidan's Saoirse Training Unit after they completed a range of challenges over the past year.
A special evening was held in The Auld Tannery Café in Gorey Business Park, where the recipients were handed their awards by St Aidan's manager Maura Kelly, who congratulated them on all their hard work.
Adrian McHugh, Daniel O'Leary and Sandra Wickham all received silver awards, while Robert Doyle and Lucy Cunningham received bronze awards.
President's Award leader Frank Norris, who oversaw the programme during the year, said that all of the awards were very well deserved. They took part in various community projects including the St Aidan's Choir, which travelled to Cork during the year to take part in a National Singing Competition run by the Cope Foundation.
They also spent two nights in Larch Hill, and went on walking challenges, and did some photography, which was another activity for the award.
They were tutored in photography by Nora Gahan.
