The streets of Gorey and Courtown were alive with the sound of music recently as the inaugural Busking for Barnados took place.

Gorey Chamber, which organised the event in association with Innovate Business Technology Ltd., with the support of local business owners, raised an impressive €3,208 for the children's charity Barnardos and North Wexford Hospice Homecare.

Sincere thanks were sent to all of the sponsoring business premises that engaged the musical acts to perform on the day, the entertainers, the volunteer collectors who encouraged the crowds to dig deep, and those who donated for their support on the day.

Not only did the event raise much needed funds, but it also greatly added to the enjoyable holiday atmosphere in both Gorey and Courtown.

The monies raised will be presented to the charities in the coming weeks.
