The Island Hunt pony club discovered that they had plenty of friends when they staged a Junior Hunt Ball at The Bailey in Enniscorthy.

At least 120 teenagers turned up for the occasion, all dressed to impress in best party fashion, with formal black tie required of the lads.

The crowd came not only from County Wexford but also from as far afield as Laois, Carlow, Kildare and even Cork for the evening.

The attendance, all of secondary school age, enjoyed a tasty buffet before taking to the floor for a disco that had them jumping and jiving to a late hour.

The fundraising ball proved so enjoyable and successful that it is expected to be repeated next year and it is well on the way to becoming an annual event.
