Green light for Community Project in Riverchapel

WORK is finally set to get underway next month on a much needed Community Project in Riverchapel.
The sports development was due to get underway in the village last year, but was halted when plans were redrawn to improve the design.
Cllr. Robert Ireton announced this week that €800,000 has been allocated for the work by Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Development. The project is being done in conjunction with Courtown Community Council, Realt na Mara Ballygarrett GAA Club, and Courtown Hibs soccer club, and will include a GAA pitch, a soccer pitch, a running track, a BMX track, and changing rooms and car park.
'This is great news for the Parish of Courtown/Riverchapel,' said Cllr. Ireton. 'We have waited seven years for this. I would like to thank the other committee members who have assisted in obtaining this grant, and the fundraising events we have had. Without their help and the support of the residents, this would not have been possible.'
Cllr. Ireton thanked the Acting County Manager Adrian Doyle for his help and assistance. 'This project would not have gotten the green light without his help,' he stated.
