Scoil Íosagáin, Coolgreany, is now a Health Promoting School and has a flag to prove it. The flag, awarded by the HSE's Healthy Ireland initiative, was raised just before the holidays.

The programme helps schools focus on health and well-being. Over two years, they developed an action plan, and were supported by the HSE's Health Promotion and Improvement Department.

Initiatives included: new playground markings; improving the school garden; updating courtyards; buddy benches; Food Dudes; and mindfulness.

Thanks went to the staff, pupils and school community, the Health Promoting School committee, Nuala Harpur of the HSE, and all who gave time and effort. Thanks also to sponsors and donors: Hudson Concrete; Boland's, Arklow; Gardiner Grain; CK Signs; Heiton Buckley; Irish Prison Service; and former principals Tadhg Garvey and Anthony Byrne.
