North Wexford SPCA volunteers took part in the Barefoot Walk of Shame on Easter Monday.

The idea of the barefoot walk is to highlight the plight of animals and show support for the fight against animal cruelty.

Several volunteers did the walk barefoot, accompanied by Mac, a German Shepard and the organisation's mascot.

Volunteers who took part in the walk were Michelle McDermot, Joanne Breen, Sam O'Brien, Michelle Ray, Sharon Earle and her son Ronan, Tracy Smith, Joe Murray with Mac and Nuala and Eric Dalton.

Thanks were extended to Miriam and Georgina in Tallulah's Hair & Beauty Salon who painted the volunteer's toenails in the organisation's trademark purple colour.

Our next fundraiser for the NWSPA is the annual dog walk which takes place on May 7 at 2 p.m. starting at Gorey Community School and walking out to Kia Ora mini farm.

This will celebrate the group's 70th anniversary and they are hoping to for a big turnout on the day. Sponsorship, while accepted, is not compulsory. Sponsorship cards are available from the NWSPCA charity shop if needed.
