THE REMARKABLE fundraising efforts of a local family and their friends amassed a whopping €13,065 for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin in recent months.
The Lancaster family handed over the cheque to Dr. Cody of Crumlin Hospital following the annual charity 12 km Crumlin Walk in the Dublin Mountains, which was attended by Newstalk presenter Pat Kenny.
Prior to this, the family and their friends raised more than €52,000 over several years in support of the Endocrine Unit at the hospital, and now another €13,000 has been added to that total.
Patrick Lancaster (17) has attended the Endocrine Unit in Crumlin since 2008 and is doing very well. Seeing the good work done at the unit, his family decided to raise funds to help with the work.
They thanked all who braved gale force winds in the Dublin mountains to do the walk. They also sent a big thank you to all who helped raise the latest amount which was handed over.
The various fundraisers included, bag packing in Dunnes Stores; a 'Dine to Help' event at Eco Restaurant in Gorey; a scrap metal collection at Mulligans Dismantlers; a charity auction in Craanford; a cake sale in Riverchapel; and sponsorship cards for the mini-marathon and the Crumlin Walk itself.
