Courtown Hotel up for sale again

THE COURTOWN Hotel is back on the market, just a year after it was sold to a local family who renovated it and opened it for the busy summer season.
The property will go under the hammer at the Gorey office of Quinn Property on Friday, November 1, at 3 p.m. with a guide price of around €350,000.
The boarded up hotel was sold late last year for a price believed to be close to the asking price of €300,000. This sale included an adjoining house which has since been sold. The hotel was extensively refurbished, and opened during the summer, and was said to have traded well.
Auctioneer David Quinn said that the intention of the current owner was to do up the property, get it up and running, and to sell it on.
'The ground floor, other than the leisure centre, has been completely renovated,' he said. 'The reception, library, bar, dining room and restaurant, and kitchen have all been refurbished. Only the pool and leisure centre need work.'
'Upstairs, ten bedrooms have been upgraded and renovated,' he added.
'A further fourteen rooms are in need of some work, and there are also two sections of private living quarters.'
'It's a great opportunity for a young energetic couple,' said David. 'The difference now is you can open the door, and start turning money. It's ready to go.'
The hotel also includes a large beer garden.
'It traded very well over the summer, and figures are available to show this,' commented David.
