Farmleigh resounded with laughter all afternoon as the parish fun day in aid of the Jack & Jill foundation lived up to its name. The event in aid of the good cause, run by the Marshalstown-Castledockrell GAA club, drew families to the field for an enjoyable few hours.
Games for all ages were enlivened by commentary from deejay Liam Sharkey, while bottle and cake stalls did a roaring trade. The wellie throwing and obstacle courses attracted strong fields.
The novelty football game pitted Clare's Mares against Brian's Babes in novelty combat, with Frank Kelly refereeing in a clown's outfit. The final figure has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that at least €1,500 was raised for the foundation.
In the light of the success of the venture, it is expected that the fun day will become an annual event.
