Enniscorthy Musical Society is advertising with fellow societies on the musical circuit and with drama groups all over County Wexford and beyond. Chairwoman Jennifer Byrne and her committee are looking for someone to take charge of the show made famous on the big screen by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.
With Ray Quigley, who has been in command most years since 1992, unavailable the call has gone out to find a replacement for the big man from Oylegate. The new recruit should have his/her application in by the deadline of Friday, November 15 and the chairwoman is optimistic that there will be plenty of names in the hat.
'We have been told that there is a lot of interest,' she commented. 'There are a few directors in the area who travel around.' She expressed delight at the fact that Enniscorthy MS has been able to secure the rights to present 'Grease' after trans-Atlantic negotiations with agents on Broadway in New York.
Just two other Irish productions of the show about the lives and loves of students at the fiction Rydell High School are due on stage this year - in Portlaoise and Athlone.
