GLEBE North keeper, Ross McGrath, pulled off a crucial penalty save for George Richardson's men in this league opener played at Corduff Park on Sunday.
Glebe handed competitive debuts to Dean Moore and Sean Moore with both to the fore in the first half. Dean who was playing up front with Emmanuel Santos showed he could adapt to playing in the higher league and forced the keeper into a great save in the first half. Sean meanwhile gave an excellent display in the sweeper position, while also finding the back of the net with an excellent strike. Before that though Corduff almost hit the front, but McGrath showed terrific judgment when going down to his right to save the spot kick.
Having survived that scare, Glebe then went in front 20 minutes after the interval after Patrick Postuge was upended inside the penalty area. Jake Crosby duly stepped up to convert the spot-kick and then supplied the cross for Sean Moore to volley superbly past the keeper.
