ST SYLVESTER'S will meet St Vincent's in next weekend's Minor A championship semi-final after holding Castleknock to just two points in the second half on Sunday to secure a 1-10 to 0-6 victory.
Castleknock led 0-6 to 0-4 at the break with the half back line of Simon Owens, Darra Walsh and Alan Kavanagh worked hard by a talented Castleknock forward line. But the switch of Colm Ryan on to Castleknock's most potent forward sawe him held scoreless after the break. And with 2012 Dublin minor, Stephen Cunningham and Jack Hazely upping their game, Sylvesters slowly but surely began to turn the screw. The full forward line of Mark Hazely, Dave Sexton and Colm Byrne were heavily involved in their comeback with Sexton accounting for all but three of the Syl's scores. And it was Byrne's movement and pass which set up Sexton for the decisive goal which ultimately put paid to Castleknock's hopes. Overall a good day for Syls with 2012 hurling minor, Kevin O'Flynn marshalling his back line well. Eoin Hamill swept up a lot of breaks in the second half while Conor Quinn and Conor Mullarkey settled after a tricky start.
