As agreed at the agm all members must have their membership paid in full by 31st March. If any member would like to pay by instalments they must have their last instalment paid by that date. Only fully paid-up members can travel to Ventry in February for the Páidí Ó'Sé tournament. Well done to Darren Daly and the Dublin senior football team on a good win against Louth. Best of luck to them in the O'Byrne Cup Final against Kildare next Saturday at 7pm in Parnell Park. Instead of holding a formal Dinner Dance we are having a club social night with a barbecue on Friday 1st February in Kettles Country House Hotel. We will have our player of the year presentations, minor league winners' presentations and a presentation to Mick Deegan, and we encourage all members to come along. Well done to our U-8, U-9 and U-10 teams who participated in the first day of the Gormanston Indoor Hurling Tournament. All the kids had a great time and enjoyed their matches. The U-9s in particular had a cracking game against Ratoath. Our boys fell behind early on but fought back to lead into the final minute, only to concede a goal. This team played a fast and exciting game of hurling. Lotto numbers last week were 7, 8, 13 and 21, €80 went to Gerry and Caroline, €40 went to B Bently, ST CS and M&D Beggs and this week's jackpot stands at €2,350. There is Bingo in the hall every Monday evening from 8.30, with the book costing €8. All are welcome to come along. Friday 22nd February sees the Minor team have their Presentation Night in the bar at 9pm, followed by a Table Quiz to fundraise for the coming season. Don't forget our Strictly Dancing Experience is on Saturday 13th April. Most of our competitors have been chosen and they will commence their training in early March.

Our Under-8 hurlers had great success in the Gormanston Indoor Tournament, winning both games on Sunday afternoon. With the football season about to commence we must remind all juvenile and minor players that it is mandatory to have a mouthguard this season. We have received a very competitive offer from Castle Mill Dental in Balbriggan for the supply of new mouthguards. A fitted mouthguard can be supplied for €20. All of our teams are about to commence their season and many of the teams are looking to recruit new players. Membership registration is open for 2013 on line or will be taken at the club office between 9.30am and 1pm by either Jennifer or Suzanne, Monday to Friday. The Gormanston indoor hurling tournament saw a great start for the Maurs teams. It was great to see so many new faces, with two academy sides and three under-8 teams competing. Our U-9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 teams all had good opening wins. Thanks to Canice and Ann for all their hard work organising on the day. The Adult Committee agm will take place at 8pm on Wednesday 13th February which all members are encouraged to attend. GAA congress adopted a resolution which makes the wearing of gumshields/mouthguards mandatory for all playing Juvenile football from 1st January 2013. Juvenile players will not be insured against mouth or dental injuries unless they are wearing mouthguards and this applies equally to training or match situations. Bookings for the new refurbished bar are starting to build up already for 2013, so get in early if you have a function or occasion in mind for as even April and May are looking congested at this stage. St Maurs' club bar will be open on Sundays from 1.30pm for the foreseeable future. The Juvenile section ran a very successful fundraiser for CASA on Friday evening. All funds raised went to the local breakout centre in Ard Na Mara and were gratefully received by Mary O'Donoghue. There was a great attendance and Stephen McDonagh was as usual an excellent quizmaster. Well done to everyone concerned. The nominations for the 2012 annual awards have been announced and published on the website. There are 12 awards, one for each team and the Young Footballer and Young Hurler of the Year. Unfortunately, we won't have a Minor Football award because the team are playing their championship final the day after the event on Sunday week, February 3rd. Tickets for the awards night, sponsored by Bank of Ireland and held in the Grand Hotel, Malahide, will be available in the clubhouse this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9pm. The nursery will be back in action next Saturday at 1.30pm with hopefully some calmer weather. The Junior footballers are training on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm, with the lady footballers on Wednesdays at 7.30. All new members are welcome.
