Round Towers Lusk
The club held its agm last Thursday night. Club Secretary Pat Codd gave an excellent account of what has happened over the last 12 months but also made an impassioned plea for all members to get more involved in their club. He talked about the population growth in Lusk in recent years and the challenges that has brought to the club. He advised that a six-year Strategic Plan would be launched in January which will enable the club to continue to grow and develop. We have a series of presentation evenings this week for all teams to celebrate their achievements over the past 12 months. The Under-11 Girls will be held on Wednesday from 5-6.30, the U-7-U11 Boys will be on Friday from 6pm and finally the U-13-U-16 teams will be on Saturday from 5.15pm. All are welcome to attend. This is the last week to enter St Maurs' Annual Christmas Draw. Tickets are currently on sale, with 201 prizes on offer, first prize being an Avensis car or €20,000 cash. The draw takes place on Saturday next. The U-14 St Maurs/O'Dwyer's camogie team went into action on Saturday for their league title match against Whitehall Colmcilles. These teams had already rubbed shoulders earlier this year in the Championship Final where Maurs/O'Dwyer's came out on top. Our girls went out with a strong attitude and were quietly determined to go for the double against a strong, physical Whitehall who never gave up, but Maurs/O'Dwyer's pulled away with an end scoreline of 6-2 to 1-1. Scorers on the day were Dara Bogan, Nicola Thorne, Blaithnaid Reynolds, Eimear Conway and Maeve Bogan. Thank you to all the parents and supporters on the day and throughout the year for this team - we very much appreciate it. Well done to our U-16 Maurs girls who won their final 2-9 to 0-8 against Whitehall in the bitterest conditions ever in Ringsend - super football, fantastic performances and everyone giving all they had. Thanks to the U-14s and U-12s who helped us out. Our last league match was in May and let's hope the county board take note and don't have girls playing league games so late in the year! Thanks to the supporters - especially the reliable Sean Carthy who came to cheer the girls on! Hard luck to our Minor footballers who lost out to Clontarf in their semifinal Match on Sunday morning. Maurs' club shop opening times for Christmas are Saturday December 15th and 22nd from 11am to noon. They are the only opening times, so don't forget to get your Christmas pressies. Santa visits St Maurs on Saturday 22nd December when we host a Christmas Party for all juvenile players and their families in the upstairs Lounge from 4pm onwards. On the 31st a New Year's Eve Party will be held in the upstairs lounge with music, food and plenty of craic. Tickets are €15 each. Bookings for the new, refurbished bar are starting to build up already for 2013, so get in early if you have a function or occasion in mind for next year as even April and May are looking congested at this stage. St Maurs' club nar will be open on Sundays from 1.30pm for the foreseeable future. Numbers drawn in Sunday's lotto were 9, 18, 26, 27. The €50 lucky dip winners were Molly and Dessie Beggs, John Coleman, Clare Cronin, Tony Bollard, Eoghi and Roisin Mc Donagh. Next weekend's jackpot will be €10,750. Contact the club for booking functions etc at www.maurs.ie or ring the office at 8438233 and contact Susanne or Peter who will deal with any enquiries you may have.
Sylvester's are through to the MFC A Championship semi-finals after a 1-10 to 0-6 win over Castleknock. Syls trailed by 0-6 to 0-4 at the break, having played into a stiff wind, but kept their opponents scoreless in the second period. Our defence acquitted themselves very well in the second half and our full forward line scored a series of very well taken points. The goal came from David Sexton after a very nice set-up from Colm Byrne and that score sealed the victory. A really good attendance was treated to an excellent match and watching a passionate Panner stalking the line with lads he has worked with since junior infants was also a joy to see. Brilliant. Keep a look out on the website for details of the semifinal. The Big Splash and Dip for Syls fundraiser takes place on December 29th with a jump into the sea at Low Rock. Sponsorship cards are available in the club or from your team mentor. Hearty congratulations to Ballymun Kickhams who became Leinster champions on Sunday for the very first time with victory over Portlaoise. Come on the Mun. Finish the run. This week's lotto jackpot is €2,100. Play and win on www.stsylvesters.ie.

You can play on line at skerriesharps. and follow the links - or buy envelopes at €2 each from Gary Holland our friendly promoter. This week's draw will take place in the Black Raven on Thursday at 10pm. Call in and support and you never know!!
