FINGALLIANS are through to the quarter-finals after a comfortable victory over Clann Mhuire at Garristown on Thursday night.
All-Star Paul Flynn was cleared to play after coming through the effects of a tweaked hamstring he picked up in the latter stages of Dublin's defeat against Mayo last Sunday week. Despite starting at midfield Flynn soon moved to full forward, but nonetheless he hadn't seen much action early on with Clann Mhuire finding the back through a Cian Darby penalty on 15 minutes.
That had seen the Naul men up by 1-3 to 0-2 but then following a break from Neil Dawson, a long ball was played into Flynn who expertly dipped the ball over the keeper with Fingallians ahead 16 to 1-4 at the break. Clann Mhuire would register their first and only point of the second half on 32 minutes and from their Fingallians dominated. The score of the half came from Dawson who having advanced from the centre back position on 43 minutes sent over a terrific score. David Killeen also features on the scoresheet with three frees with Donal Farrell, Gary Donnelly and Flynn also raising the white flag.
