Spoils shared in local derby

GRAHAM Joyce earned a valuable draw against table topping Malahide United in this entertaining four goal classic played at St Catherines Park on Saturday.

This was their fourth point of the campaign which marks a dramatic improvement from 12 months ago when Athletic were pointless from their first four games. Following on from their fine win against Lusk last month, Rush got off to a terrific start through Dylan Walsh before Malahide responded with a rather fortuitous strike. United then went in front but their margin might have been greater had it not been for the terrific goalkeeping of Ian Harford. And after chances had fallen to both substitute Abraham and Mathew Hegarty, Rush Athletic finally drew level when Justin Murphy connected superbly with Dylan Walshe's cross from the right.
