PHIL Fitzpatrick's team got their season off to a cracking start on Saturday in a game which saw not one but two headers scored by the home side. The Brackenstown Boys have had a busy pre season schedule which included a very good work out against Fran Darby's up-and-coming Shelbourne under 10's girls team last Monday. Certainly Shels had a good physicality about them, but the Manor were able to get by them with some good football. They eventually won 4-2 and they took that form into their weekend clash, with newcomer Thomas Whelan marking his debut with a headed goal. Alan O'Shea also found the back of the net with a terrific diving header, while the goal of the game saw Robert Donnery make a short run from inside his own half before beating the keeper with a deft chip from just inside the centre circle. Daniel Wilson, Thomas O'Shea and Alan Cahill were also on target for Phil Fitzpatrick's men.
