SWORDS Celtic made it two wins from two in Ballyoulster on Sunday as midfielder Anto Smith and Robbie Farrell helped themselves to a brace apiece. Celtic, who play leaders Enniskerry YC in next weekend's top-of-the-table clash, welcomed back Neale Fenn, the former Bohemians star, who played in the hole just behind Robbie Farrell.
Larry Clare's team dominated the early exchanges and eventually went in front on 25 minutes when Anto White converted off Robbie Farrell's cross. And although Ballyoulster were to pull one back, Farrell pounced for his fourth goal in two games when his persistence saw him restore the home side's lead on 40 minutes. Farrell, having played at centre-half with Baldoyle United, certainly seems to be relishing his return to his more natural position and 10 minutes into the second half he set up White for his second goal of the game.
And with Mark Gibson and Jason Smith bossing things in the middle of the park, Celtic put further distance between the two sides when Farrell converted off a corner. Ballyoulster threw the proverbial kitchen sink at Celtic in the final 10 minutes, during which time they pulled one back, but with Adam Hanley and Ben McQuillan holding firm at the back, Celtic held on for a comfortable victory. Celtic can expect to be more competitive in the next few weeks, with Barry Caulfield, Paul Shiels and Shane Byrne all pencilled in for returns in September. SWORDS CELTIC: Brat Turker, Bernard Smith (Tadhg McDonald), Niall Kinsella (Conor McNeill), Ben McQuillan, Adam Hanley, Mark Gibson, Jason Smith, Anthony White, Robbie Farrell Neale Fenn (Gareth Loughead) , Daniel Smith (Luke McQuillan).
