Torsney shrugs off injury to star in Tallaght

ANNE-MARIE Torsney continued her great form on Sunday when winning Under-18 Shot Put and Discus gold at the Dublin Track & Field Championships in Tallaght.
The performances represented further evidence that the Fingallians AC girl is coming back to full fitness after suffering an injury in a National Squad Session some weeks ago.
That undoubtedly hampered Torsney's prospects in the recent European Youth Olympic Trials in Baku, Azerbaijan, but she still managed to do herself and her country proud by equalling her personal best in the Shot, finishing the competition in mid-table.
Back at the Dublin Championships, Fingallians' Emma McDonnell came third in the Girls 600 final, just behind Lusk AC's Katie Halpin, while Darragh and Brian Markey and Conor Gleeson all medalled in the 100m and 250m hurdles, high jump and sprints. These athletes are coached by Liam Markey and Barbara McDonnell.
