Skerries well placed to avoid drop
SKERRIES BC's men's team have consolidated their position in the Bowling League of Ireland in the past few weeks after some excellent home victories.
The side had a difficult start to the campaign, with seven of their opening 10 league games away, but now - with five matches left to play - there are only six points separating the bottom five teams and with three home games to play, and just two away, Skerries are confident they can retain their status as a Division 2 team for the coming year.
There have been significant benefits to the club following the Skerries BC Open Day last April in that the Ladies section has gained six new members and the men have added another five to their ranks.
Indeed, all at Skerries BC are very proud of the performance of the Ladies BLI Division 2 team who are currently lying in second place in their division with only one match left to play.
The current state of play is that they cannot overtake the leaders Dun Laoghaire, who were relegated down to Division 2 last year and will now be promoted back.
Still, many congratulations to Skerries Ladies, especially as for the first time in some years they achieved away victories on grass, a difficult task for a club whose home playing surface is a synthetic rink.
