ALSAA was the venue for a major cross-country race recently that saw businesses and organisations compete over the tough course in the BHAA/Dublin Airport event.

According to the organisers, the races went off very well, with good ground conditions in sunny weather.

Out of a field of 49 women, Sonya O'Connell from TCD emerged the overall winner in the two-mile race, with Paula Grant, a secondary teacher, in second place, followed by Laura Behan in third.

Revenue won the women's team event over the taxing course, while the men's five-mile race had an impressive entry of 141 runners, with John Reidy emerging as the winner, followed by Patrick Malone from the Turf Club, and William Morris representing Dublin City Council in third place.

The Gardai won the men's team event and the full results for the event are available on

The race would not have been possible without the help of ALSAA ground staff, C&T Supermarkets, St Joseph's Aviation Credit Union, Red Bull, and all the volunteers. Everyone returned to the clubhouse for refreshments after the race and applauded as their colleagues were presented with the day's prizes.
