Record numbers for cricket camps

MORE than 500 schoolchildren attended last summer's cricket coaching camps held around Fingal, making them the most successful in recent memory.

The summer camps were run over four or five days at different clubs, namely Swords, Balbriggan, North County, The Hills, Rush and Malahide and the growth of cricket in the county was clear to see as more than a hundred of the children experienced club cricket for the first time. All the camps experienced record numbers attending and that was mainly due to the great work that the local clubs, Fingal County Council and Leinster Cricket Union have been doing through the 'school visit coaching programme' which has been running for some years now. Special mention goes to Swords CC who ran a particularly successful two-day camp which was well organised, run professionally and attracted good numbers of local players.
